Typographic Burgers

For TGI Fridays' launch of several new burgers, illustrator Scott Biersack has created these typographic chalk drawing ads. Each drawing gives character to the burger being presented and the letter forms even take on the properties of each ingredient. Chalk became the chosen medium in order to portray the delicate and hand-made nature of the burgers that TGI Fridays wishes to convey.

El Camino Food Truck

The El Camino Food Truck is based out of Monterrey, Mexico. To give it an American feel, design firm Savvy Studio decorated the truck with the hand-written typography of vintage American signage. These friendly slogans ("King of the Street," "You Are in for a Treat," "Market Fresh," etc.) aren't the only things hand-written. Even the menus and packaging display this fun lettering.

Sleeping Beauty

This is a series of gender-swapped fairy tale illustrations by artist Yudi Chen. These struck my interest not only because the illustrations themselves are quite nice, but because my thesis has had a focus on the reinterpretations of stories and how they can be portrayed visually.

Confessions

Confessions is a public art project created and maintained by artist Candy Chang that resided in The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas during the summer of 2012. Over 1,500 confessions were put up on display on square wooden plaques, written on by the confessors themselves, or recreated on large canvases by the artist.

Inspired by Catholic confessionals, Chang installed a row of booths in which anyone can write down their confession anonymously to be included in the exhibition.
