Ice Typography

Here are some terrific type sculptures made from ice by Canadian environmental artist Nicole Dextras. These relate to my current typography class assignment.

Even though its in pieces (or maybe because of that) I think this one's my favorite. Before the wooden support beams were taken away, it ironically read as "Legacy". Goes to show how some of the best results are unintentional.

Happy New Year

This is the very cool result of a year-long exposure through a pinhole camera pointed at the Toronto skyline. One year ago New Year's Eve, Michael Chrisman carefully set up the camera and collected it just before 2012 hit. Those yellow streaks are the path of the sun on all 365 days. Impressive.

Our Bloodstained Roof

Ryan Andrews has some fantastically beautiful comics on his site. One such comic is "Our Bloodstained Roof." The story feels raw and real (whether it actually is or not) and has quirky, yet sophisticated illustrations, eye-catching textures, and dynamic accents of color. Definitely worth a look for some excellent storytelling.
